Subject: Chem Fallow And Tillage Cost Question

Hey Guys, with Fuel Prices going up so much I was wondering about you guys that Raise Hard Red Winter Wheat in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas and then Summer Fallow until it is time to plant Wheat Again in the Fall, do you think it cost about the Same, Less or More to spray for weeds or would it still cost less just to do Tillage? You guys that do Chem Fallow, what Herbicides do you guys use? What Rates do you spray these Herbicides at? How many times do you guys have to spray before you plant? Also do you guys know how much per acre it will cost you to spray? We have always thought that our Versatiles usually use about 1 Gallon Per acre when we are doing Tillage. After Wheat Harvest is Finished in June we usually Disk Twice, Chisel Once, Cultivate Once and Plant Wheat in September.
Thank you,
