I didn’t read the article, but wouldn’t it make more since to plant it and if the crop is zeroed out get your coverage payment at say 85%?



Depends on whether inputs are already applied. Are machine wear and tear, labor, seed, fert, and chem more or less than 45% of the insurance guarantee if planted? There's also the question of whether dusting a crop in is following "good farming practices."
