Depends where you are at. In Minnesota, I feel a starter is almost necessary to get the corn up and growing. We run 4-5 gallons in furrow as our starter. Very efficient placement and quick plant utilization. So much nicer than having to deal with dry fertilizer and filling up all the time. But to each their own I guess.
