Western Ontario | I honestly don’t know what percentage of sulphur it is but if there is any such thing as pure sulphur I’d guess that’s what it is. The plant is refining oil sands (also known as tar sands) into oil and sulphur is a byproduct. Most of it is strp mined, the oil sands range from just below the surface to about 500 feet deep. This is some of the oil that would have gone through the Keystone XL pipeline if it hadn’t got canned. I was able to look down into one of the strip mines yesterday and it would be about 1000 acres and I could count 45 of the massive rock trucks, it’s something to see.
