Near-north Ontario, French River | In some cases i wonder if its a dispute between the retailer and the suppliers? Last month for a number of weeks you could only buy store branded potato chip products in some of the major grocery stores. Frito_lay and the Major ( I think it was Loblaw , who operates many stores under didnt names) were in a pricing dispute. As a result Frito-Lay stopped shipping products to Loblaws. Basically all you could buy was store brand, so while it may have appeared there was a shortage there wasn't. They have since settled their dispute and the shelves are once again filled. Beyond the chip wars, I haven't noticed any empty shelves in our local grocery stores. |
