Rates need to be increased, if nothing else people that have money in the bank deserve a fair return.   It'll never get high enough to be a fair return but the near zero rates that banks are paying now are an insult.   There's no reason for rates to not go up a couple points.   An increase might even wean a few people off of borrowing for everything.

Question

Why do you feel entitled to be payed interest on money sitting in your account.
1. You could rent it to a bank through term CD’s
2. You could lend it out privately and achieve a better return
3. You could leverage/ invest it to keep up those you may think are being reckless
You may think you are entitled to high interest because you payed high interest but that is merely situational jealousy. If you did pay high interest you have likely enjoyed a period where your real estate investment has increased 10 fold probably not realistic to believe that will occur on non development 2 million dollar farm.

What do you mean about being entitled to interest income??? Do you understand economics???
1. When it's in an savings account or CD's that IS renting to the bank. They pay me "rent" in the form of interest. They then loan it out.
2. That's the bank's job. They are better positioned to loan money than I am.
3. I have no idea what the h*** you are talking about here.
No one feels "entitled" to higher interest. If you want to borrow money, you pay interest.
The jealousy seems to be on your end, as it sounds like you are still on the borrowing end, and maybe butt hurt about it. Whereas some of us have already been there, done that, and are now trying to reap the rewards of the time and investment.
And your last sentence, well, you obviously weren't around in the 1980's. Interest was in the teens, and anyone that was paying that high interest was NOT increasing their real estate by 10 fold.
