That very well could be. I was pretty pumped that this would be the year selling fats, but with the runup in corn, ddgs and stagnant live price I don't see that happening. Next year will probably be in a recession and no one will have any money for luxury meat. I've been selling corn hard the last few days and if i sit empty this fall that's just fine with me. I tried selling fats this last week, had one major tell me they were out of the market, two that only buy out 1-2 weeks and these groups need probably a month and another buyer didn't return my calls. Tired of the heehaw.
Don't let the buying out front foul you. It a tactic packers use to secure and maintain as much inventory as they can because even they know the markets heading higher. |
