nc ks | We had a large fire 3 miles west of me started by dry lightning. Trucks from at least 4 counties were called in acounting for probably 10 to 15 rfd's. The rfd 3 miles east of me had to travel through multiple downpours and ping pong hail to get to the fire. The next day ariel firefighting was added. Thankfully no houses or major structures were lost.
It was really a pimple compared to some of these fires since the reponse was so overwhelming and winds slowed during the night, but the irony of the blaze being literally a couple miles from rain was something. | |
