We keep producing more ethanol and the acres of corn that are planted keep going down so I am pretty sure ethanol is not causing more acres to be farmed. Would you leave some of your acres unplanted if we were not producing ethanol? Where would the price of corn be if we were not using some of it to produce ethanol?
id estimate about 1/2 price what it is today, or less. The price is not linear. Lose a third of our market and the price will decline considerably more than a third. We’d most likely need 10-15% setasides again to hold down over production. |
