You have to look at the complete picture, not just part of it.
Consider what goes into feed rations. Distillers grains are high protein, but still fairly high energy. So when using distillers, a bit less corn is put in the rations. Soybeans and alfalfa are reduced considerably. Corn stalks, straw, and hay grown on land not suitable for farming are added to rations.
My opinion is very little if any additional acres are needed to be used in the production of ethanol.
Other than some crop insurance, what significant subsidies do farmers get, that I seem to be missing out on? | |
