Subject: Russian Tariffs

sw ontario
Idk if there is a better way to punish countries than using tariffs or not . In Canada with a 35% tariff on Russian fertilizer ,it feels like the US tariff on aluminum, soft wood lumber, ect. that it hurts the consumer as as much as the country.
I know Russia has to be stopped some how.
Kind of beating a dead horse butwere we have the capalities in any country to produce essential goods, from fertilizer to medicine we should be willing to pay a little more and have a secure supply.
Now EU is in real bad spot needing NG/petrol from Russia.
Lastly UN reports https://twitter.com/LSynkovska/status/1516337565162512387/photo/1 30% of land in Ukraine unfit to plant
