Well depends. You can save a lot of money if you don’t need 3rd wall, multiple doors, cement…. But as said you loose possibility of animal control, and some people control. A closed locked shed they have to break into. Some people (for some reason as they are lowlife THIEVES) will walk in, take what they want. But hesitate at breaking down a locked door. A few game cameras and you might get proof who broke in. Open side odds are too far.
Only you can decide if added costs are worth it.
BTW adding on to building. Saves cost of a wall. BUT if there is a fire. You lose it all. Something to consider. Cold long term storage with planters, gravity boxes, pull type sprayer. (Or any engine unit has battery disconnected, no powered items on). Fire danger is low. Connected to shop, equipment, welders, compressors, kitchen…. While low. Chance of fire many times higher.
