Western Ontario | It’s a bit of a shell game in our area. Lots of new houses in Port Elgin getting built, typical would be a 1600 square foot house @ $800 k. At $500/ft builders are killing it, lot’s of demand from new incomers to Bruce Power who have the income to get them financed. We have friends that built a new house about 12 years ago for $400k, it’s worth about $900k now and they are selling and buying a lakeview for $1.25M and there mortgage payment stays the same. It spills out to the rural area and not a whole lot you could buy if you don’t have $500 k and that’s essentially a fixer upper…..it certainly clears out the riff raff….they just can’t afford to purchase or the rents. | |
