Central Alberta | When I visited Hamilton, MT a few years back, I noticed a vacant lot with a solitary concrete chimney on it. A local told me it was left as a reminder of an investment scam years ago. Two fellas came to town talking about building a factory. They got some investment money, but people were skeptical. So they built a chimney that everyone could see from all over town, and people were less skeptical, and they got a bunch more investment money, and then they left town, leaving just the chimney. | |
