Around the town where I lived, the biggest buzz for a few years was for the new packing plant that was coming. There were several rounds of investors meetings, encouraging local farmers and businessmen to invest in this plant. Many people invested their life savings, and the first stage of construction went ahead; the land was developed and some walls went up.
I was talking to a farmer who had recently moved from Europe, and I asked for his opinion on the new plant. He said that same group of asian businessmen had been doing the same trick for years over there. They would get a large amount of investment from the locals and make a feeble start on building the plant, then declare bankruptcy and move on.
Sure enough, that's exactly how things turned out here. And a few other locations I read about.
they are probably setting up shop here in the us getting ready to start a bunch of plants now that Joe and Kammie are going to throw a bunch of money at the meat processing industry
