Subject: RE: Gout treatments

I was diagnosed with Gout 42 years ago I'm 61 now, it runs in my family. I've learned a few things since then.

1. The best way to not have a bout of Gout is to take allopurinol EVERYDAY!
It took me about 20 years to get that figured out. I Doctor prescribed allopurinol, he said take it everyday.
I did and I haven't had a bout of gout since then. For the 1st 20 years I was on a different medication and I wasn't as diligent about taking it.

2. Drink lots of water dehydration causes the uric acid to crystalize more readily, and it's the crystals that cause joint pain.

3. The home remedies might work but they don't work all the time, and they won't keep your uric acid levels low enough all the time.
High uric acid level in your blood is hard on your liver and kidneys.

4. Take your allopurinol as prescribed. It works, it's cheap and it been around a long time.
