NE ND | I bought a long drill bit at Menards, concrete type I think, and drilled pilot holes in the ground to slide the sticks in. I always know I should do it earlier but as a North Dakotan I stay in denial that we aren't going to get that much snow this year or that early until the first storm comes. By then the ground is frozen.
I think your idea would work good though. I would maybe go up to the larger size container. With this weekend temps it should be ready within an hour if you set it outside.
