Subject: RE: Tru Count clutches and seed command

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Concerning shutting the fertilizer ON/OFF also, it would certainly seem possible although it might get fairly costly.

The cost and complexity would vary depending on the current fertilizer delivery system.

In our starter fertilizer delivery systems we generally use a ground driven positive displacement pump to delivery the fertilizer (Demco Ll' Thumper). The stroke setting of the pump determines the amount of fertilizer applied. If we were to use the concept to shut off the starter as well as the seed we would need a three way valve to return that row's fertilizer back to the tank. This return path would need to be orficed in the same way as the normal path leading to the row unit. This type of arrangement would involve a good deal of plumbing and wiring.

It seems to me that the cost and complexity vs savings could be a real issue.
