IA		As stated by others you need to scan the image with a higher DPI (dots per inch)

72-100 dpi is what you see on a screen
200-600 is better for maker a larger picture out of a smaller one.

The scanner will have a limit on how high it will actually scan.

I find 400-600 on old small photos works the best of you are wanting to make or crop them.
