South Central MN | Yes they do; the problem with using ip cameras or old phones as baby cameras is that they also require you to keep your monitoring phone awake as well. They work fine as a surveillance camera where you don't need to be listening for noise (baby crying) all the time. When you do need to be listening for noise all the time, that means you are constantly streaming to your monitor phone and it really chews up your battery. Plus, when you hear cries in the middle of the night, it takes longer to unlock the phone, pull up the app, and load the video stream.
A far better solution for baby monitors are any of the video monitors designed for the job. They can handle hours of streaming, have night vision, and load the video stream much faster. only downside is that they don't have the "view from anywhere" range that is cameras have. We tried ip cameras as baby monitors and would not recommend. We do love our actual baby video monitor. | |
