Subject: Gleaner S77 chopper knives--wheat straw

Southern IL Randolph County
Are there any alternatives that work better for chopping heavy wheat straw? I am talking about straw from 100 plus bushel wheat that we plant double crop soybeans into. There are times when, even new or turned knives just don't seem to chop the residue very well. This seems worse when starting to run earlier in the day or later in the evening. I have no problem with how the chopper works in soybeans, but as we keep pushing our wheat yields, the straw can be a problem. Soft Red varieties. Thanks
