Subject: RE: Stretching hay or selling part of the herd

Fairbury, NE (Southeast)
How is the hay supply in a 50 mile radius? Here the rainfall was extremely variable. We had half the normal prairie hay production but go 20 miles south and they had way more moisture. So making more cornstalk bales, blending ddg or liquid feed.

So if it's an option i would consider corn stalk bales and add ethanol by product or syrup. Liquid feed options can stretch supply a fair amount as well but can get $$$. This cattle market may be in an uptrend. I would hold onto the cows til spring if feasible.
