I think that you have some of the math backwards? I also think that the scale does not magically change 10X when the first number changes.
I think I have the math correct. Yes, the scale does change 10x, that's what logarithmic scale means, it allows massive variation to be simplified into a smaller scale, like the rickter scale for earthquakes. A 10 on the rickter scale is NOT twice as powerful as a 5, it is 10,000 times as powerful, I think.
It does not continue in the same scale above 7 though, it is logarithmic away from neutral. The step from 13 to 12, is the same as from 1 to 2, many times larger than from 6 or 8 to 7. | |
