If they have been cooking for 5K years, how long have we been cooking?
Also, you made mention that their meals are different than our sit down meals. Are they making laps around the kitchen table as they eat?
The main difference is that the food is placed in the middle of the table and everyone just sort of shares it from there. Whereas we would pass the food around the table and everyone would put a portion on their plate. They just pick away at this or that.
Like at a restaurant. We would each order individual items off the menu to eat ourselves. In China one person orders a whole bunch of dishes and they are all shared. Some restaurants would have round spinners on the table and you just spin it around to get the dish you want to take from. At the end of the meal they often fight over who gets to pay, it is most honourable to pick up the check for a group of pals. |
