Wisconsin | Like nkline said, listeria is a bacteria. Interestingly one of the worst for dairy products and cold meats because it grows at refrigerator temps. It's also everywhere in the soil, so you are not going to eliminate it. In silage it is growing in the edges, parts mixed with dirt, it's not going to be growing in the middle of palatable silage, no matter how much mold. Mixing is a double edged sword, they'll avoid the bad silage if it's not mixed up, but mixing it will lower the level that any one animal gets, best to pick out any dirt and composted parts, then mix.
