Subject: 9770 smoking and struggling to increase RPM

NCSD
Hi all.
Have a JD 9770 started giving me trouble today. It seems to have a hard time increasing engine RPM from 1200-1700. once it gets to 1700, it will go to 2300 no problem. Once at full throttle, it will stay there no matter how hard I work it. When it is struggling to rev up, it will start to smoke.. not bad, but noticeable.
Fuel filters are my first thought, but if it would be filters, I feel it would struggle at wide open, not just mid throttle. Absolutely no power loss once its wide open. When its wide open, it won't miss a beat until i idle it down.
No codes.. wouldn't fuel filters through a code for low fuel pressure??
Whats going on here??
