Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | On my S78 I run 6 mph+ in 100 bushel dry corn. (15% or less). I’ve ran the rotor down to 250-260 run rpms when it that dry. 270-300 in wetter or higher yielding corn.
I always run the fan wide open.
Bottom sieve open or nearly open and close the top chaffer down just enough to clean.
In higher yielding corn I stay in the 3,500 bu per hour range. 70-80% engine load. Seems about right.
If your having rotor loss, you can add rotor sweeps. Those improved my rotor loss to near zero.
The new 3300 series cornheads definitely take in less trash than the former 3000 series Hugger heads. I run the head just fast enough to keep from leaning the stalks forward. Pretty much on the low end of the speed. |
