Subject: Grain Cart Scales - Spindle removal

Northeast Indiana
Bought Killbros 110 double auger grain cart (brother to Brent 1194). It didn't come with scales so bought a kit from Scale-Tec. Its a 3 point scale where you replace the wheel spindles with weigh bars. I got the wheel and hub off but the old spindles are stuck pretty good in the sleeves. I was able to get the first spindle to move out about 1" so far using a porta-power, a torch heating the sleeve, and a BFH hitting the old spindle to jar it while applying pressure to the porta-power. The problem is I stripped out the threads on the seal of the porta-power piston. Even with the spindle having moved an inch, a hammer alone still wont budge the spindle out any further. Is there an easier way to do this? I expected the spindles to be bound up somewhat, but didn't think they would be this tight. Going to find a new porta-power in the morning, hoping its easier going tomorrow. The new spindles will be going in with a generous amount of anti-seize.
