Subject: There was a post on this forum...

Fletcher, OH
several years ago about this subject.

A response by someone smarter on this subject than myself said, a lead post with the old style clamp terminal can carry more amps with less voltage drop due to the surface area of the connection the amperage must pass thru.

As Caterpillar still uses the old design battery connections on their latest equipment, and the "over design" for adverse conditions they put into their product, I believe there are facts we are missing.

The equipment we are talking about here, where components are not "maxed out to capacity" and economics play an important role maintaining non-current equipment, threaded post batteries are a viable option.

I really like the tin plated copper replacement clamp terminals when I have to repair a battery terminal. Lead terminals should go the path of the dinosaurs.
