West central missouri | I have thought about this a lot. As a veterinarian I have treated a lot of dogs to the best of my ability and compassion. As a dog owner, our dog is with me all day. As a supposedly insensitive old farmer I cried when my miniature Pomeranian was run over. The fact remains these people are sheltering a dangerous animal and putting their neighbors at risk. As livestock owners we know it is impossible to communicate with these nuts. I believe in the case of a complaint like this the prosecutor should use local law enforcement to communicate to the owner they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent for reckless endangerment if the behavior continues. If he refuses, make sure law enforcement understands they will be held responsible as well.
