I would guess at some point in time your timing was way off. If fuel gets across the top of the piston and it detonates between the cylinder wall and the crown of the piston you will break the rings. Bad injectors can do this also by spraying fuel prematurely. If no either use it is fuel and timing related. May have occurred 2 years ago before you changed the injection pump. When you get it torn down let us know what the underside of the piston looks like. If it was too high of combustion temp, there will be oil burned black under the piston bowl.
