SE MT | 2 years ago our 7510 began starting hard, especially cold.
Last winter it had gotten worse, so at 9000 hours, I changed the db4 injection pump for the first time. Nozzles were changed 3000 hours prior.
After the pump change, no improvement in starting. Went through the winter with it running the bale processor everyday.
No hay was put up this summer, so the tractor sat idle till recently.
I recently changed Nozzles again at the request of the injector pump shop [because they say 3000hours is a long time for Nozzles, which is complete bs] no change.
Cut out a couple cylinders when cold found #2 and 6 were causing the white smoke.
Tested #2, 220lbs cranking pressure, no good.
Pulled head today found 5 out of 6 pistons destroyed. Top rings broken out of three of them.
Question is, how did this happen? With parts as scarce as they are, I'd like to make sure I don't repeat this failure. Ad of now, a deere rebuild kit is not available, I may be forced to use an a& I kit.
Thoughts?
