The axle size has nothing to do with the 12.5L motor. It's just an option from the factory.

I bought a 2001 9200 with 12.5L motor and 100mm axles brand new and had the front right axle bearing fail around 1500 hours.

Fixed it and ran it for about 5 seasons then traded it on a 9220 with 1100 hours and 100mm axles. I have 4000 hours on it currently and no bearing issues yet. We check them each winter.

I personally liked the 24 speed tranny in my 9200 better for what we used the tractor for. I currently have an 18 speed powershift in the 9220 and I feel it leaves a lot to be desired for a powershift transmission.
