NWC Ohio | Winches draw a lot of amps, make sure your wiring, both power and ground, is sufficient for the amps and distance the power has to flow. Hopefully you have both power and ground wires from power source to winch. I have seen plenty of issues with bad grounds on hi load circuits where they try to ground back through the mounting/frame/hitching points. Also, while it may seem slow to lift, check the lifting speed of the winch as it operates against the rated speed of the winch. Maybe the winch just doesn’t turn fast.
In your case, since it appears you have double or triple the amount of cable you need, I would cut it shorter and keep the extra so you can replace the cable that sits out and gets rusty from use. Just don’t cut it so short the first time that it takes away the ability to add a doubling block (or whatever it’s called) to double the lift capacity of the winch. | |
