Faunsdale, AL
The reason they aren’t prescribing anything is there has been no drug that’s been proven to work preventing the progression from “cold and flu” symptoms to pneumonia.

There are monoclonal antibody products now that have some good data behind them, but in a COVID surge those can run short. They’re also required to be given IV so there’s a significant cost of personnel to administer it. New one coming out of the approval pipeline soon is an IM injection. Couple that with a quick test and you can be in and out in an hour and have received state of the art care.

Next thing coming is oral meds from Merck. That is an antiviral med that inhibits the virus replicating more virus.

The problem with Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine is they’re not antiviral compounds, and they’re not proven to work......to the degree that the medical community will rely on them as a standard of care.

You have to realize COVID is a disease that admittedly most people recover from on their own with no specific treatment. ANY DRUG ..... vitamin C or aspirin for example, that is taken at the first sign of COVID will be “effective” almost all the time. Did it do anything for you? Maybe it did, but probably it didn’t.

Same for Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. To show whether something really works, takes a well designed study with lots of people in it. And it should not be designed to “prove it works”. It has to be designed to answer the question “does it work”.
