Hello, Quite a problem episode to be sure.
I do a few of these, yours is a strange case.
To bad it's turning out the way it's going.
Was their any discussion in letting owner work it without calibrating?
Codes may set or some controller fail or other faults appear.
Likely it will shift reasonably well.
