Yep, threaded rod (acme screw thread), and it's free--turns easily.

I'm guessing low amperage is my problem, and I can check a bunch of connectors, but I'm hoping someone knows the best place to start (most likely failure spot).


The wiring and design of the system is really not up to the challenge. Has not worked well on any of our TR 9X's. We help ours move by relieving tension with a ratchet strap to pull on the spring loaded idler. Also just use a battery with jumpers to power the motor.

We don't tend to adjust ours a lot...basically just change a few times a year. If we used it often I would add a heavier power cable and some relays to make it work. A real thrust bearing would not hurt either.
