n.c.iowa

We got a 29’ chief bin that has a early form of power sweep in it.  It’s got a u-joint off of the above floor gear box to the auger, and a hinged joint on the back shield.

there is about a 2’ bracket that’s supported by a hinge fastened to the wall that swings down, supported by a chain.

the wheel end of the sweep auger sits in alittle “cup”, when the sweep is engaged it jumps out of the cup and works it's way down to the floor.
works pretty slick and I’d bet it’s been in that bin for at least 30 years, with no issues.  I guess it was their way of not having to deal with any intermediate sumps (bin does not have any intermediate sumps).

the bracket is about 4.5-5’ above the floor.
