Subject: Tractor diagnosis software (cashih STX325)

I have cummins insite software. Can I connect to the diag connector in the STX325 and, via the tractor can bus, get to the engine controller? I'm guessing I can but I wanted to know how similar tractor CAN bus stuff is to semi truck CAN bus systems.

Or, do I need a version of CNH software to talk to the engine? I'm considering getting a version of CNH software that will talk to my 2004 tractor since I'm constantly dealing with faults. Usually there are some test options with the software to see what isn't working (cheaper than just replacing parts until it works). Anyone tried this or has this become standard for a lot of guys?

I have volvo, detroit, allison and cummins software to deal with my older trucks. Thankfully volvo lets guys like me have the full version which is handy when I set up pto's (it's prewired, but needs a software download to turn stuff on). It's paid for itself in the first year (no service calls).

Thanks
