Been there and done that A LOT, but not with active Covid. There are times you need to abide by the rules, and there are times to make a fuss. If the person has active Covid, I am quite certain you won’t be getting in for a visit. However, if your family member takes a turn for the worse, I would push HARD to get in. If the person no longer has active Covid, I would insist on at least one family member visiting as long as the visitor has no signs of illness. The chance of an asymptomatic person transmitting Covid to another person is very minimal…not the hype we heard about in the past. Last fall, as my mother-in-law was dying (after she was disconnected from life support after CPR), our entire family went in. We were not welcomed in and were told that one person could be in there. We did not take no for an an answer, and we all (8 -10 of us) were there. Like I said, there are times to accept that you can’t go in, but times to not accept and just go.
