Parts counter folks have what I'd think are the hardest job of all. Long hours, weekends, often customers in a hurry, need to look up a bolt on a 1984 lawn mower deck and turn around and find the right oil to put in a gearcase on a combine or something while putting away the parts that may or may not have come in. that you got that bolt found, I don't actually need it. Just wanted to take pictures and measurements and find it online somewhere.

I have respect for those people....I'm not sure I'd be good at it and others find that out once they're in the job. Be thankful for the ones you have

My recollection of two men at one former Case IH dealership is one which made me quickly realize just how hard their jobs were. The owners wouldn’t allow the parts guys to keep certain commonly needed parts in stock. That definitely made their jobs all that much harder and repetitious. I tried not to patronize that location if it was avoidable. Winter might have been the only time of year those two men could sit down and eat their lunches slowly. They remarked that other times of the year they were lucky if they got to eat lunch at all. One day I came in and the 2nd parts guy said he had to shove down a Sonic hotdog while standing behind the parts counter. That’s all the time he was allowed that day to eat. They routinely got cussed out by angry customers.
