Subject: RE: Credit Union vs Big Banks

Central Tx
Federally chartered Credit Unions are regulated and insured by the NCUA. The insurance levels are similar to the FDIC levels for banks. State chartered CUs depend on each states regs.

If you have a valid issue with a Credit Union, all you have to do is go to the CFPB website and file a complaint online. These are usually resolved in less than 60 days. You can also deal with the CUs Supervisory Committee directly. You can even volunteer to serve on the Supervisory Committee, which is usually appointed by the Board of Directors. As a member, you are also eligible to run for a position on the BoD.

The Credit Union movement is about 80 years old and all the gung ho people that helped foster growth in the industry are aging out, and fresh, dedicated volunteers to fill their shoes are always needed.
