Bottom of the Mitten | The hemi is a pushrod engine. The reason for the new technology, like it or not, is largely from government mandates on emissions and mileage. I agree with you about the engines you mentioned being tried, tested, and proven, but the 60's/70's technology cant meet the demands the manufacturers are facing now. Variable cam timing, direct injection, more sophisticated electronics, and variable displacement are how they're handling it.
