Subject: Cereal Rye planting angles

Central Nebraska

This fall is my first time planting cereal rye.  I've already done about 300 acres on soybean ridges and seed corn ridges that will be going to soybeans next year.  Most if it is up and looks wonderful.  Tomorrow I'm going to go into some yellow corn residue on ridges.  It will be interesting.  I have about 120 acres of that and then the rest is yellow corn on flat (no ridges).  I want to go at an angle this fall and then next spring plant soybeans at a different angle or offset 5 inches and split the rye.  Drill is 10" spacing.  Normally I'd go 10* angle.  Is this acceptable?  Dropping about 40lbs of rye into near perfect moisture conditions as we had .50 rain last night.
