Subject: RE: landlords and cover crops

NC Kansas
Go south and west where the soil is light and eroded... covers may be the only way farming remains sustainable regardless of how they effect profits short term. I understand they don't work everywhere. I know if/when I'm a landlord on shares, I will encourage the use of cover crops and share in the cost if that's how the arrangement needs to be. Right now? I'm not gonna ask that of a land lord that has no experience with them. I know I'm doing what's best for my acres and if it improves and preserves their land in the process I hope that they can see that and help me retain the farm for many years.
Like others have said, if you can get them to buy in I'll be surprised, but I've been surprised before.
