NorthWest Indiana | Were they showing signs of this when he bought them? Generally lice is host specific. But chickens do roost and poop. Front of feed bunks make great roosts so you know where the poop is going, straight under the feed right into the stomach.
As to putting them out when weather permits. Daylight/UV rays do a lot to keep lice and warts at bay. Dark, damp areas help the growth of lice and warts. Our calves are allowed to run in and out at will. Many days I come home from school and wonder why they aren't out, or there are days I come home from school and wonder why they are outside!
We stalled our horses when I was a kid. My team are allowed to come and go from a lean to roof to pasture. Don't have the coughs and health issues we always had with our horses as a kid. | |
