Hazelton, Kansas 6.75 miles N of Crowbar | So I haven't planted full season milo for a few yrs because of sorghum midge, SCA, Anthracnose and poor pigweed control. Too dry at corn planting time so against my better judgement I waited and planted milo. I expected to fight the weeds and planted pioneers best SCA, Midge and anthracnose hybrid. While scouting for midge I found some Lygus bugs but really didn't know what they were or could do. Lots of stress on it but the milo looked respectable. Heads weren't as full as I thought they should be. Started harvesting Sat. afternoon. Yield just not there. Lots of empty places in the heads. Berries had started to fill. Now just empty hulls with mold. Called my dealer and he came out and took pictures. Sent them to his agronomist. Came out to day to have a closer look. Yup insect damage. We believe it is Lygus bugs. Ain't that just peachy!. Dirt |
