I think many workers that are post 1997 hires realize this might be their last chance to force Deere’s hand on retirement pensions and full funded health insurance. Old guard people like my father when alive had lifetime free medical and great pension. Post 1997 hires don’t have this and have wanted it for years. Likely the is immediate wage issues also with everything being nuts in this labor market. They have a strong hand right now, we all know parts are bad and strapping Deere where they can’t hire temps in this environment to even help will put big pressure.

How can any company afford free health care for life with today's medical prices? I'm sure Deere will just move some more production out of this country in the next few years.

I wonder what % of manufacturing (as opposed to assembly) is currently overseas. Seems like 80-90% of the parts you pick up are from a foreign country.
