This is just the beginning, unfortunately. In the rush to get information "out there," a lot of sloppy work was done. A lot of it, on preprint servers, was spread as gospel. There's probably a reason these papers have still not been subjected to peer review.

Again, the big lesson on COVID-19 has not been COVID-19, but the poor performance of the medical community, researchers, and policymakers in dealing with it. I will add to that bloggers, influencers, and common schleps like us who all to often pass on bad information. No one comes out looking good in this.

Clearly, we need changes from the top down -- but that's another thread.
