If you want to make money with stock cows winter them on corn stalks and Distilers.
Cow mineral can be had for 10 cents the extra 20 cents will buy 4 lb of modified.
You can winter a cow on 10 lb of modified and ground cornstalks.
The only time my cows got hay was a blizzard or the week I ran out of pasture before corn was harvested.
